Well the wondering is over. We got the first practice out of the way and our first lifting this morning. Getting back into the swing of things. It feels good to be sore. I got a library card and they have Time Magazine, an English section, and English newspapers too. Pretty exciting Tuesday-lift, library, grocery store ICA, nap, start my first Swedish library (bibliotek in Swedish) checkout- Sense and Sensibility, meet with team Physical Therapist, put up curtains in my room and living room, shower, sleep.
Tuesdays and Thursdays we only lift. Monday Wednesday Friday we have volleyball and abs or agility after. There is so little to do here. We were actually staring out the window at one point. If I had Pula I’d be walking her around the lake its like an hour walk at least once a day. There are a lot of dogs and babies. People ride their bikes a lot and there are bikes parked in front of peoples houses like props. Lots of people walk their dogs I have seen a German Shepherd, lots of poodles, weird dogs, spaniels, and a lab-ish mix. If they aren’t on a bike or with a dog they’re walking their baby in a stroller. Everyone has a damn baby!
My town is soooo tiny and precious. We covered everything the first day here! It is really beautiful though and we didn’t walk around the lake yet. The town sits right on this little lake and everybody has canoes and little boats. Some people’s houses are on the creek/river that flows into the lake and they have little docks in their backyard.
I saw a girl on my team’s apartment similar to ours except it looks like it is right out of an IKEA magazine. Everyone’s house is IKEA. All the windows have a lamp and a few plants and curtains. Its like a display or show room window all perfect and set up. I need some color in my room its all white with white curtains and floor and blue bed and tan leather chair, like a sterile hospital. I need a cute little plant like everybody else here to bring life and color to the room. The rest of the apartment is coming together. Our manager Roger and his wife Agneta have done a lovely job of trying to make the apartment like home for us.
We might go to Stockholm this weekend for the day to check it out since it will be our only chance for a while. I am starting to look for jobs, learn Swedish, get a bank account, and a personal number in the next few weeks. I already got a cell phone and a library card but NO INTERNET. I got it today but can’t figure out how to install it in Swedish…..UGH! Task for tomorrow-INTERNET!!
